At Széchenyi István University, the history of economic education began in 1990 with the establishment of the Business Administration program. In 1992, the training of economists commenced at the college level in the field of business management. Initially, the programs were overseen by the Institute of Economics, which was succeeded by the Faculty of Economics in 1993.
The development of the content and organizational framework of the business management economist training started under the leadership of Professor József Kupcsik. From 1996, Professor József Veress developed the university-level economics education program, which led to the launch of the first university-level business management supplementary program on September 1, 1998. From the autumn of 2001, this program was also offered in full-time education.
Department of International and Applied Economics
The Department of International and Applied Economics provides the economic foundations for Széchenyi István University's economics programs, with a particular emphasis on teaching microeconomics, macroeconomics, and international economics, thereby contributing to students' deeper understanding of economic processes. The department plays an active role in interdisciplinary education and research, which covers the examination of current issues in sustainability, technological development, and global economic relations.
Department of Statistics, Finances and Controlling
The Department of Statistics, Finance and Controlling at Széchenyi István University provides students with basic professional knowledge in the fields of statistical analysis, financial decision-making and controlling, both in higher education vocational training and in traditional bachelor's and master's programs. The department plays an active role in applied research and practice-oriented education, with the aim of promoting a deeper understanding of financial processes and developing practical management skills.
Department of Tourism and Hospitality
The Department of Tourism and Hospitality at Széchenyi István University focuses on training professionals who can successfully manage the tourism and hospitality industry and who have the appropriate theoretical and practical background to support corporate operations. The department considers an interdisciplinary approach to be important, placing emphasis on international relations, tourism development, guest experience management, and sustainability issues, actively involving students in professional projects and research.
Department of Corporate Leadership and Marketing
The Department of Corporate Leadership and Marketing plays a central role in Széchenyi István University's commerce and marketing, as well as management and organization programs, where, in addition to providing a theoretical foundation, the integration of market trends and strategic thinking is also a key objective. In addition to active teaching, the department offers corporate collaborations, case study-based and practice-oriented courses, supporting the development of students' management, communication, and marketing skills.
