This year, nearly 12,000 young people applied to Széchenyi István University, representing a 15.9% increase compared to 2024, significantly exceeding the national average growth rate.

The data indicate that the university's programs remain highly popular among applicants. In the higher education admission process, candidates could submit their applications through the felvi.hu system until February 15. According to statistics published by the Education Office on March 6, a total of 11,789 applicants chose one of the programs at Széchenyi István University. The total number of submitted applications—since a student could apply to multiple programs—reached 23,000, reflecting a 15% increase compared to the previous year.
Dr. Zsolt Kovács emphasized that the growing interest in the university confirms the high quality of its programs and the trust young people place in the institution. He highlighted that the university appears in eight European, sustainability, subject-specific, and global rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Times Higher Education (THE), demonstrating the recognition of its academic work. The students' development is further supported by close collaborations with companies, internationally leading competition teams, talent development programs, available scholarships, and European-standard infrastructure. Applicants can expect a vibrant campus life and a modern urban environment, where the number of English-taught programs exceeds fifty, and the student community includes young people from nearly eighty countries. He also assured applicants that a sufficient number of state-funded scholarship places are available.
Among the most popular programs were automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, business administration and management, and commerce and marketing, which attracted a significant number of applicants.
Additionally, there was great interest in logistics engineering, technical management, mechatronics engineering, software development, business informatics, architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) studies, law, international business, tourism and hospitality, primary education, special education, nursing, and health psychology. Design programs also enjoyed high popularity, indicating that creative and innovative fields are increasingly sought after by students.
