Spa Management 2025: Professional and Sustainability Trends in the Spa Sector

Spa Management - Department of Tourism and Management SZEDuring the 2025 spring semester of the Spa Management course, two active and renowned experts shared the latest professional knowledge and up-to-date trends in the spa sector with the students. The speakers enriched the course participants with both theoretical and practical insights, ensuring that they received current information on market expectations and the latest innovations. The lectures were particularly important for the students’ professional development, as the challenges and opportunities of the field were directly discussed by experienced professionals. The knowledge gained during the course was not only theoretical but also highly practical, enabling students to apply it directly in their future careers.

Zsanett Pintérné Zámbó, Quality Assurance Manager and HR Manager at Sárvár Gyógyfürdő Kft., gave a presentation titled “The Process of Obtaining the National Certification Trademark for Spas in Hungary.” She provided a detailed overview of the steps to obtain the certification, the role of quality assurance systems, and the criteria that spas must meet. She specifically focused on the example of Sárvár Gyógyfürdő, where she illustrated the quality assurance processes and efforts made towards obtaining the certification with concrete examples. This presentation gave students the opportunity to understand how a spa can not only operate successfully but also stand out in terms of quality. The interactive session allowed students to actively contribute with their questions, making the learning experience based on real professional experiences.

György Dr. Ákoshegyi, President of the Balneotechnical Section of the Hungarian Hydrological Society and former Secretary General of the Hungarian Spa Association, gave a lecture titled "World Water Day and Supporting Tourism Opportunities. Explanation of the Hungarian Hydrological Society’s Motto: ‘2025 Glacier Protection.’" In his lecture, he discussed global and local initiatives aimed at protecting water, highlighting the importance of water in tourism. A significant focus was placed on the 2025 glacier protection, which is crucial not only for environmental protection but also for tourism. The presentation highlighted how water management is linked to the spa sector and how it can be integrated with tourism. The lecturer, Erzsébet Dr. Printz-Markó, found it especially valuable that students could learn about the latest trends in spa management in the context of global water protection and sustainability initiatives. The students actively participated in the discussion, and the questions raised at the end of the lecture provided them with a deeper understanding of the subject.
