Successful start for Tourism Club's first event of the season

The first guest of the Tourism Club's lecture series for the spring semester of the 2024/2025 academic year was Patrik Lendvay, the owner and CEO of Lendvay Event. In his lecture entitled "Evaluation of the event management market - Current challenges and trends affecting small businesses through the example of Lendvay Event", the speaker provided an insight into the world of event management, with a special focus on the trends and challenges affecting small businesses. He introduced the audience to his concept of crisis management, along the lines of a strategy of escape to the future.

Patrik Lendvay underlined that the interest of young people was very inspiring.  The lecture gave him the opportunity to introduce the next generation to the ins and outs of event management and to experience first-hand the mindset and interests of future tourism professionals.

It was an excellent opportunity for students to get a close look at the current state of the event management industry and the dynamics of the market. They were particularly interested to hear, through the examples of a practitioner, about the business, creative and logistical aspects of event management and the challenges faced by small businesses. Virág Zavadovics, a student of tourism and hospitality, indicated that she would like to work in this field in the future, so the presentation was also a career orientation event for her.

Erzsébet Dr. Printz-Markó, coordinator of the seminar entitled "Organising Tourism Events", underlined that the presentation was of great value for the teachers as well, as it provided an opportunity for the students to deepen their theoretical knowledge through practical examples. Understanding the current industry trends and challenges will help the students to prepare for the world of work with up-to-date and marketable knowledge. In addition, such events are also key for building industry contacts, as they can lead to long-term professional cooperation between students and guest speakers.
