Tourism Club:The Mindszentyneum as a religious and tourist attraction in Zalaegerszeg
We held our second Tourism Club of the spring semester on 5 March 2025. The presentation was preceded by an exhibition opening, where Anikó Husz, lecturer of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality, and Dr. Sándor Remsei, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, welcomed the participants.

The theme of the exhibition was Cardinal Mindszenty's Life - Gates of Life. Gergely Kovács, representative of the Mindszenty Foundation in Hungary and curator of the Mindszentyneum, presented the seven panels. In his lively but informative presentation, he tried to arouse interest in the life story of the Cardinal in the language of young people. The seven colourful charts contain QR codes to help you find out more about his life and answer the questions asked. This exhibition evokes many human situations and decisions, opportunities and choices, paths and crossroads, beginnings and perspectives that may be familiar not only in Cardinal Mindszenty's life, but also in our own.

After the exhibition, Tünde Szaknyéri, a former student of the Tourism and Catering department, presented her current workplace, the Mindszentyneum in Zalaegerszeg. Tünde started her professional career in the hotel industry, before moving into marketing and communication. Currently she is the communications manager of Mindszentyneum, a modern exhibition centre meeting 21st century requirements. In her presentation she presented the strategic objectives from the supply side that can make this modern "place of pilgrimage" attractive. The place is an important segment of religious tourism, offering attractions for all ages. The symbolism of the building and the exhibition and the interactive display are essential elements in today's storytelling.
