Between April 28 and 30, 2025, the Economics Section of the National Scientific Students’ Associations Conference (OTDK) was organized by the University of Miskolc, where I had the opportunity to participate as a presenting student.

Eliza Raffai OTDK - Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics SZEMy research was presented in the Tourism – Travel Decision session. The study examines the role of tour guide interactions and behavior in tourists’ emotional reactions and decision-making processes and serves as a continuation of my previously presented and published research from the OTDK of 2023.

The choice of topic is also closely related to my professional background, as I worked as a tour guide throughout the entire research period, showing the link between my practical experience and academic research. The presentation of the paper at the conference was the result of 1.5 years of dedicated research, during which I carried out in-depth interviews, observations, and questionnaire-based surveys.

As the last presenter in my session, I gained insight into the research of mostly Master's and some Bachelor's students and had the opportunity to connect with fellow young researchers. I received valuable and competent feedback from the professional jury, which strengthened my self-confidence and confirmed my place in the academic field.

It was a huge honor to return home with first place in my session and a special award granted by the The Association of Hungarian PhD and DLA Students for the highest-scoring research in the Economics Section of the conference. This included an invitation for free participation at next year’s Spring Wind Conference and the Doctoral Summer School. This award is especially meaningful for me, as I intend to continue my academic journey as a doctoral student.

The inner sense of mission that has guided me throughout my journey was once again a key element of my achievements, supported by a strong and encouraging network. I am deeply grateful to my former and current university lecturers who continued to follow my path. I owe special thanks to my supervisor, Dr. Éva Happ, who saw potential in me even when I felt invisible and has since supported me with unconditional care and guidance.
